PSA disease was probably brought to New Zealand by imported pollen
PSA disease, which is destroying the kiwi orchards may be arriving in New Zealand because of imported pollen.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry released its study on the possible entry points of the disease. Conducted for 1 year, this study followed all the possibilities. If it did not identify a
specific culprit, but the study shows that imported pollen is strongly suspected.
Import regulations of pollen will be reviewed and new standards required. Imports of pollen in New Zealand has been suspended since the outbreak of the PSA.
