The Official Journal of the European Union has published a document that details the specifics of "Platano DE CANARIAS." These characteristics identify the product and are to prevent fraud. The publication gives a period of six months where it is possible
to make a statement of opposition to the EUROPEAN Comission.
Obtaining the IGP PLÁTANO DE CANARIAS could occur in mid-2013. The industry has been working on getting this for months. The first application was filed by ASPROCAN in early 2010.
