Ahold acquires food retailer Barbosa

Ahold, the international food retail and foodservice company, has signed an agreement to acquire the operational assets of Brazilian supermarket company G. Barbosa. A family owned company that operates 32 hypermarkets and supermarkets in the northeastern Brazilian states of Sergipe and Bahia with sales of approximately EUR 300 million. The acquisition strengthens Ahold's existing operation in Brazil under the Bompreco brand name.
