The Brazilian ginger season was brought forward: focus on quality during the journey
After an extremely busy pre-season, with a lot of demand and limited delivery capacity due to the shortage of air freight availability, the Brazilian ginger season is being anticipated in a few weeks. Traditionally, season starts in June, but at the beginning of May it was possible to find ships loaded with the Brazilian root sailing towards the European continent, mainly.
And although the product is already strong and dry enough to withstand long-term travel in a container, the root will be fully mature only in the second half of June, being extremely important the post-harvest care and the packaging and stuffing process as well. Attentive to that, as of this year, we have implemented a solution in the boxes to help extend the product's life during the journey. “Our root is recognized for requiring a very low use of chemicals, naturally approaching a genuinely organic product. This brings us the responsibility for performance with excellence in preparing the shipment, which is why we invest a lot in this regard " – explain Mr. Vasconcellos.
”The season could not have arrived at a better time, because despite the fact that we are arriving in the summer in the northern hemisphere, where the reduction in consumption is predictable, the ginger root is an important ally of health, especially in this context of Covid-19. “It is very rewarding to work with a product that helps people to live a better and healthier life. The pandemic further strengthened Ginger's relevance in the diet of people of all ages and regions”, says Mr. Vasconcellos.
