Italian productions of Apulia region are getting to Greece, where in the 750 supermarkets of the group Asteras will be held “the month of Apulia” soon, thanks to the agreement reached today in the Chamber of Commerce of Bari between the vertex of the Hellenic company and the suppliers from Bari in the food and chemical sector.
"Apulia has been focusing on the quality of its production for a long time. That’s what allows us to do business and create added value”, explained Luigi Farace, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Bari. Added: “we have always believed in the relationship with Greece and being friends as well as business partners increases the interchange between Italy and Greece”.
Giorgio Papantonis, chairman of the greek group Asteras indicates what are their perspectives in Apulia: “oil and pasta are the best selling products. We want to find companies able to collaborate on the market and diversify the products in our trade”. Marco Garufi, Group Asteras representative in Italy explains their projects: “we aim to expand the presence of the products of Apulia by placing a special “corner” within our 750 supermarkets, operated by the 87 names that give life to the group. Not only we will organise “the month of Apulia", but we want to experiment other promotions with the Aicai. The Aicai is the company of the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, which basically provides services for businesses in their promotion abroad. During their contacts with the group Asteras they clearly didn’t wanted to miss the occasion: Carlo Martino, the president of Aicai explained that “by opening the Grecian office in May 2007 we wanted to achieve some objectives and develop commercial exchanges with Apulia. We started with 5 companies, and today we have 25 companies that are signing contracts on food and non food products”.
