The prices for onion are increasing
Poland

The prices for bulb onion have gone beyond the level of EUR0.25/kg. But, even such a high price is not sufficient for the producers. Some of them try to store onion hoping for the price growth in the future. According to the opinion of the market experts, the real situation will probably not come up with their expectations because of two reasons.
First of all, onion is stored extremely poor this year (mainly because of the hot summer past year). Second, the onion deficit on Polish market can be compensated by the import supplies quite easily. Polish processing enterprises have already been purchasing onion from Ukraine where this product is cheaper and the labor expenses to peel onion are lower too. Onion of Dutch onion is also present on Polish market; the shipments from the Southern hemisphere are soon expected to enter the market too.
