Australian citrus producers hope that Indonesia will cancel its import restrictions in July when the season of mandarins starts in Australia.
Australian exporters are waiting for the removal of import restrictions imposed by Indonesia.
Indonesia had imposed import quotas in the month of November in order to support its own fruit producers. A few days ago Indonesia has announced that these restrictions will be removedas a result of a complaint of the United States.
Negotiations between trade responsibles of the two countries are in process. The Citrus Growers Association Australia hopes that these restrictions will be removed in July when the season of mandarins starts in Queensland.
Last year the Australian citrus exports to Indonesia totaled 14 million AUS $ ( 10.9 million €). Indonesia is one of the five major markets of Australian exports of citrus, apples and grapes in particular.
