An Iranian delegation visited the region of Adana and Mersin from January 14 to 17 to learn about the varieties of citrus and storage techniques.
Iran is the fourth largest exporter of oranges to Turkey and until now cold treatment is required to ensure that the fruits exported are not contaminated by the medfly.
A protocol was signed between the two countries for the export of Turkish citrus between the period from early November to late March so that the treatment is not requested by phytosanitary authorities.
