Japan will start exporting apples to India for the first time. The country has received approval from the Indian government, after 10 years of negotiations, for apple exports. These exports will be made on a trial basis and deliveries will begin at the end of the month.
As domestic consumption does not increase in Japan, this opening of the Indian market is good news for professionals in the sector looking to boost exports. India is one of the most promising markets because the country is one of the largest consumers of fruit in the world.
Currently, the main export markets for Japanese apples are Taiwan and Hong Kong.
