Morocco to export citrus fruits to the Japanese market

The procedure for exporting Moroccan citrus fruits to the Japanese market is in its final stage, according to Moroccan media (Photo: leseco.ma).
The meeting in Rabat (Morocco), between the Ministers of Agriculture of the two countries, aimed to strengthen trade and cooperation relations between Morocco and Japan. Agricultural trade will be developed, particularly for the export of Moroccan citrus fruits to Japan.
Rabat (Morocco) hosted a meeting between Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests, and his Japanese counterpart Arata Takebe. For several years, the two countries have carried out various actions in the agricultural and fisheries fields, and wish to strengthen their trade and their cooperation relations. A global cooperation agreement is underway and will be signed this summer.
This meeting, according to Moroccan media, was also an opportunity to confirm that the procedure for exporting Moroccan citrus fruits to the Japanese market is in its final stage.
The meeting also made it possible to examine several issues concerning agricultural and fisheries trade, but also the development of cooperation in several areas (phytosanitary, irrigation, infrastructure, scientific research, training, advice).
According to Moroccan media, agricultural trade between Morocco and Japan reaches around 200 million MAD (19.8 million USD), of which 180 million MAD (17.8 million USD) comes from Moroccan exports of coriander seeds, frozen strawberries, seaweed, thyme. Japan exporting green tea to Morocco.
