The agreement that facilitates the transit in Afghanistan will allow to Pakistan to increase its exports to Central Asia.

The transit trade agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan is restarted.

Afghanistan and Pakistan had signed an agreement 2 years ago on transit trade. The two countries were committed to not to add additional taxes to Afghan products which were crossing Pakistan and Pakistan products crossing Afghanistan. This agreement was more or less applied since 2010. After many requests and queries of Pakistan exporters, Afghan authorities have assured that no further tax would be levied on goods crossing the country.

Pakistan exporters rejoice and believe that their exports to Central Asia will increase. Especially exports of fresh fruits and vegetables (kinnow, potatoes ...). The two countries also expect to increase bilateral trade and to bring it to $ 5 billion by 2015.
