Value of fruit and vegetable imports from Morocco to Spain grows 21% year-on-year

In 2022, 65% of the value of Spanish imports of fresh fruit and vegetables came from non-European countries.
The value of these supplies increased 15% year-on-year, totaling 2,456 million euros, according to data from the Customs and Excise Department. Volume grew 2% year-on-year, totaling 1.8 million tons.
In turn, imports from the European Union totaled 1.9 million tons (+12%).
Morocco consolidated its position as the leading supplier in terms of value, with around 930 million euros (+21% year-on-year) and 540,149 tons (+10%).
In terms of volume, France led, registering 1 million tons imported, growing 20% year-on-year. The value was 379 million euros (+36%).
The third supplier was Portugal, with 342,877 tons (+13%) and 286 million euros (+5%).
Other major European suppliers: the Netherlands, with 213,011 tons (-7%) and 202 million euros (+1%) and Italy, with 146,088 tons (+1%) and 170 million euros (+11%).
Among suppliers outside the EU, after Morocco, Costa Rica stood out, with 322,137 T (-1%) and 222 million euros (+18%); Peru, 217,554 T (+8%) and 423 million euros (-7%) and Brazil, 125,078 T (-19%) and 139 million euros (-7%).
