Dole, the world's largest supplier of fresh produce, is looking at new projects to expand production in China.
Dole, which has treatment facilities and distribution in the cities of Qingdao and Shanghai, is expected to open more. The president of Dole, David Murdock, says he has been working with the Chinese authorities to develop the production of new treatment facilities. His trip to China gave him the opportunity to meet officials and oversee the sites.
Dole provides bananas, pineapples, asparagus, mangoes, papayas and other fruits and vegetables for Asian markets and also New Zealand and the Middle East. Dole Worldwide Packaged Food Division currently operates three treatment centers for canned produce in Asia, two in Thailand and one in the Philippines.
