Poland becomes a leader in apple exports

Poland is the largest exporter of apples in the EU, according to the latest report from USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (the U.S. Department of Agriculture).
For the 2012/13 season Poland will produce 2.9 million tons of apples (14% more than the previous season), which represents 26% of total production in the EU.
Exports will reach 900,000 tons (12.6%) for fresh apples and 250,000 tons for juice. The main destinations are Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan. Russia buys 55% of Polish exports. In the EU, its main customers are Germany and the Czech Republic
