Decrease in asparagus exports in the first 4 months of 2022

From January to April 2022, Peru's income generated by exports of fresh asparagus dropped to $67.392.799 from $73.814.758, sent in the same period in 2021, according to the Agrodata Peru portal.

 

The volume shipped in that period in 2022 fell to 22,906,144 kilos, from the 23,926,359 kilos shipped in the previous year.

 

The main asparagus production areas in Peru are on the coast, in the departments of La Libertad, Lima and Ica, due to the climate characteristics of this region.

 Ica is the largest producer of this crop in the country, whose yield is mainly destined for export, covering surfaces of more than 10 hectares.

 

Peruvian asparagus is recognized throughout the world and reaches 80 countries.
