National Mango Board welcomes 6 new members

On September 1, 2021, the National Mango Board (NMB) welcomed 6 new members. Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture of the U.S., announced that the appointees include 5 new members and 1 returning member.
The newly appointed board members are: Albert Perez – Importer District I, Daniel Ibarra – Importer District III, Umi Martin – Domestic Producer, Guillermo R. Lozano Aguila – Foreign Producer, Luis Carlos Martinez - Foreign Producer, and Clark Golden, who has been re-appointed for the Importer District I.
Appointees will serve 3-year terms starting from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024. The exception is Daniel Ibarra, whose service will start immediately and will winish on December 31, 2022.
The NMB is grateful for the service of Rodrigo Diaz, Daniel Lyons, Michael Warren, and Jacquie Swett, the members who are leaving their positions.
The National Mango Board currently includes 18 members: 8 importers, 2 domestic growers, 1 first handler, and 7 foreign producers. Board members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture and nominated by their industry.
The National Mango Board is an agriculture promotion group in the U.S. supported by assessments from domestic and imported fresh mangos. The board is aiming to move mango from being an exotic fruit to a daily necessity of people, and to boost awareness and consumption of the fruit in the U.S. marketplace.
