Apple production estimated at 1.62 million tonnes

French apple production should increase by 6% compared to the 2014 harvest.

According to AGRESTE's forecast (Department of Agriculture), the national apple production is estimated at 1.62 million tons; an increase of 6% compared to the harvest of 2014.

By varieties: Golden 496.6 thousand tons (+ 7%), Granny Smith 150 500 tonnes (+ 5%), Gala 317,500 tonnes (+ 14%), other varieties 652 100 tonnes (+ 1%).

The areas cover 37,600 hectares therefore + 1% change in 1 year and -4% over 5 years.
