Citrus production in Turkey

2011 is a good year for citrus production in the region of Mersin.

If lemons are having some difficulties because of large production and few sales, oranges and grapefruit production is normal with average sizes and good quality.

In the case of clementines (satsumas), production is very good. Low rainfall has given them a high sugar content and current weather conditions of sunny days cold nights have resulted in extra colour. This has led to strong demand and high prices.
