Irrigation will be hit by the worse drought in France since 1976
The drought in France is more serious than in 1976.
The quantities of water collected since early March were lower than in Spring 1976, making this Spring the driest since 1959, says Meteo France.
The drought covers much of the territory, with 54 departments now affected by water restrictions. Crop irrigation is subject to regulation. Only a part of Brittany, the East of the country, le Massif central and the Mediterranean coast are beyond these measures at present.
