Savéol progresses thanks to the development of the small high value-added segments.
The last year was gloomy for the entire sector but some companies saw their results progressing, as Savéol, which developed the small segments and the exports.
At Savéol, clusters and classics tomatoes represent no more than 35 % of the production, and the company privileged the small segments by playing on the ranges of varieties, new or former, on the forms, colors, calibres, and presentations.
This choice allowed an increase of 3,4 % of its turnover and of + 6 % of the export, which represents now 24 % of its activity. This year, Savéol wishes to progress from 10 to 15 % in the export.
Savéol in 2009: 250 employees, 130 producers, 72.000 tons of tomatoes (2,8 %), 1.300 tons of strawberries, 670 tons of cucumbers.
