The year 2012 ended with an increase in food consumption in Italy
The increase in food sales was significant for the weeks of Christmas and New Year according to the survey by Confesercenti-SWG conducted throughout Italy.
The survey shows an increase in the sales volume of fruits and vegetables of 2%. For meat, the increase is 5-10
% depending on the region. The northern regions of the country increased their food consumption by 5% in December, those of the South by 1%.
It was a positive end to the year, which has seen a general decline in consumption.
