Early potatoes costs nosedive in Ukraine

In accordance with recent information, early potatoes prices nosedive in Ukraine, costs drop comprises approximately 30% comparing to the last year numbers. Despite steady export to Russian vegetables market, potatoes trade course is considered to be fairly negative. At the current moment potatoes producers start to decrease wholesale prices for this kind of vegetables. This fact could be traced to potatoes oversupply within local market of Ukraine against moderate demand from the side of local wholesale companies and exporters. Basically Ukrainian potatoes producers ship off vegetables at 0,14-0,28 USDkg, high quality potatoes costs skid down to 0,23-0,27 USDkg. It stands to mention that demand for Ukrainian early potatoes remains quite low. Based on the latest data, dramatically low demand could be attributed to high transit stock of potatoes both in Russia and Ukraine.
