Iran becomes a new market for Indian mangoes

Last year India exported about 35,000 tons of mangoes and is expected to reach 45,000 tons this season.
After Australia and South Korea, Iran opens its market to mangoes from India. MSAMB (Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board) has set up four hot-water treatment facilities for export to Iran. The first expeditions will serve as a test before the normal exports which will start from the next season.
APEDA has issued a trade notice for the 2017 season. Europe is one of the largest markets and is expected to receive 5,000 tons of Indian mangoes.
New markets were opened in Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, in addition to South Korea and Australia. Last year, India exported about 35,000 tons of mangoes and is expected to reach 45,000 tons this season. The state of Maharashtra is the largest exporter of mangoes in the country and accounts for more than 80% of total exports.
