Post-monsoon rains have wrought havoc in the north and west of the state of Maharashtra over hundreds of hectares of agricultural land.
While the monsoon officially ended on October 16, the post-monsoon rains hit several districts of the state. In particular the districts of Nashik, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Dhule, in northern Maharashtra, where hundreds of hectares of vines in full bloom have been destroyed.
Total production of grapes will be low compared to last year's harvest according to the National Research Center for Grapes (NRCG).
Moreover, in the absence of a government decision on crop insurance, thousands of farmers will suffer significant financial losses.
