In 2018 Spain exported 382 378 tonnes of peaches, 357 471 tonnes of nectarines, 108 956 tonnes of apricots and 71 565 tonnes of plums.
In the context of the Fisheries and Nectarines contact group, representatives of producers and sectoral associations as well as administrations from France, Italy and Spain met last week in Murcia (Spain).
They analyzed the beginning of the campaign. The Spanish representatives stressed that the beginning of the campaign is difficult and that it is marked by very low prices. Therefore, the application of crisis management measures is considered essential, as in previous campaigns, according to the director of APOEPXA (Asociación de Productores - Exportadores de Frutas, Uva de Mesa y Otros Productos Agrarios).
APOEXPA and FECOAM organized in Murcia, the annual meeting of the contact group Fishing and Nectarine, a group created within the framework of the Spanish-French-Italian Joint Committee on Fruit and Vegetables, to which Portugal was added last year.
