Japan will open to Honduran melons

. After a validation process that lasted 8 years the Honduran melons will be able to enter the Japanese market.

SDE ( Secretaria de Desarrollo Económico ) confirmed the imminent opening of the Japanese market . Market that could absorb between 300 and 400 fruit containers per year , representing about USD 100 million income. On this demanding market prices are very high , nearly double than other countries. Japan annually invests nearly $ 1 billion in purchases of melons , watermelons and papayas .

Exports could begin by the end of April . This entry to Japan will also facilitate entry into other markets. After Hong Kong and Singapore where they have already shipped , melons from Honduras could conquer Taiwan, South Korea and China.
