New world record with 8 040 meters for the longest Banana Split.

The record set 29 years ago in Pennsylvania (USA) of 7,320 m has just been beaten at Innisfail (Australia) with 8,040 meters for the longest Banana Split. The Guinness World Records recorded this new record.

This Banana Split required 40,000 bananas, 2,500 liters of ice and 2,000 liters of filling. Hundreds of volunteers spent nearly 12 hours installing and preparing this 8040-meter dessert. To contain it, a company specializing in cartoons had designed an original castle-like setting.

In the heart of a banana growing area, the city of Innisfail with this record underscores its support for the sector and celebrates the resumption of activity after the disasters caused by tropical cyclone Larry (2010).
