The Netherlands led European expansion, with imports of Peruvian Hass avocados rising 62%.
Peru exported 722,754 tonnes of Hass avocados in 2025, up 38% from 523,035 tonnes in 2024 and well above the previous record of 578,465 tonnes set in 2023, according to the Asociación de Productores y Exportadores de Palta Hass del Perú (ProHass).
The volume surge came despite stable planted area. Hass orchards totalled 83,529 ha in 2025 — marginally higher than 83,503 ha in 2024 (+0.03%) and 83,263 ha in 2023 (+0.32%). The association attributed growth primarily to productivity gains driven by improved irrigation, nutrition, pruning and crop protection, particularly among smaller producers.

Within Europe, the Netherlands posted the fastest growth (+62%), reinforcing its role as the region’s main logistics hub.
Production areas
La Libertad led planted area with 19,106 ha (22.87%), followed by Lima (14,892 ha; 17.83%), Ica (13,858 ha; 16.59%) and Lambayeque (12,844 ha; 15.38%).
2026 outlook
An initial forecast points to 10–15% export growth in 2026, supported by stable conditions, rising yields and new highland orchards entering production. However, weak El Niño risks flagged for April–October could affect performance.
Latin America still supplies over 70% of global Hass trade, while the US — consuming an estimated 1.4 million tonnes — remains Peru’s key high-volume market, where it ranks as the third supplier (7.2% share).
