Felix Instruments to host a free workshop in Spain
On Thursday, December 16, Felix Instruments will host a free workshop for avocado industry experts in Malaga, Spain, and demonstrate its Avocado Quality Meter.
The Felix Instruments Avocado Quality Meter provides a non-destructive and almost instantaneous assessment of avocado dry matter. Utilized by Camposol, Mission Avocado and Del Monte, the device makes dry matter measurement easier, increases testing consistency, and lowers measurement time by 95 percent.
Eric Munoz, Application Scientist at Felix Instruments, along with local distributors in attendance, will present the free workshop. They will demonstrate how Felix’s customers are utilizing the tool, show the Avocado Meter in action and offer an opportunity for visitors to get hands-on experience.
Attendees will discover how the Avocado Quality Meter uses near-infrared analysis to calculate dry matter, a principal indicator of ripeness and general fruit quality. Previously, dry matter assessment took hours to perform, but the Avocado Meter carries it out in 8-10 seconds.
The workshop will also highlight recent improvements on the device and provide an opportunity for networking amid avocado industry colleagues.
The tool also offers an opportunity to use Fruit Maps, a free interactive harvest map app, co-created by Felix Instruments and Central Queensland University.
Lunch will be provided.
