Moroccan fresh berry exports increased by 28% in one year, reaching 172,000 tons last season
Ali Rougui of Morocco Foodex opened the 6th Morocco Berry Conference in Agadir, presenting the latest figures for the Moroccan sector and the global berry market. The country exported 245,000 tons of fresh and frozen berries during the 2024-2025 season, a 16% increase in one year and a 26% increase in two years.

Double-digit growth in Europe and the Middle East
The European Union is by far the largest market, with 156,000 tons exported last season, a 17% increase. The Gulf countries are the second largest destination, with 5,000 tons exported and a 36% increase. Russia follows with 3,000 tonnes and a 36% increase, then Norway with 2,000 tonnes and a 36% increase. The other markets declined by 54% and represent only about 1,000 tonnes.
A global market of 2.6 million tonnes
The world imported 2.6 million tonnes of berries in 2024, for a value of US$16.4 billion. Blueberries became the leading variety distributed worldwide with 934,000 tonnes. The European Union represents 38.6% of the global berry market, North America 42.1%, the United Kingdom 6.5%, the Gulf States 2%, Africa 0.6%, and South America 3%. The EU imported 1 million tonnes for a value of US$6 billion.
