On April 22, via videoconference, Anecoop presented in its General Assembly of members the main results of the campaign 2019-2020, to representatives of its 72 cooperatives and associated entities in Spain.
The president of Anecoop, Alejandro Monzón, highlighted that the year ended with a record turnover of 770.5 million euros.
According to Monzón, the size of the organizations proved to be a primary factor in successfully solving the new challenges that the agri-food sector faced.
“And that's where Anecoop is going to put the spotlight. As a cooperative company it already meets the conditions to achieve success: sustainability understood as supporting the rural environment, the existing emotional bond and the feeling of identity make it a unique successful business formula”.
Joan Mir, the General Director, indicated that due to the commitment, involvement and responsibility of all the people who are part of the value chain, from the farmer to the people who work at the point of sale, they were able to supply healthy products to the final consumer in times of pandemic.
Mir thanked all Anecoop partners and professionals for their effort, which has been reflected in an 8 % increase in turnover, reaching 770.5 million euros. The consolidated results of all the Group companies totaled 966 million euros, 6.6 % more than in 2019.
Anecoop offers an extensive range of products that includes vegetables, IV and V Range vegetables, fruits, citrus, non-citrus fruits, exotic fruits, and wines.
Citrus turnover increased by 11.3 % despite having sold 13 % less tons than the previous year, with settlement prices well above previous years.
Fruit. With a 12 % increase in turnover and 10.3 % more tons sold, this category ranks as the one with the greatest increase in volume within its offer. The Bouquet seedless watermelon and Kaki Persimon have contributed to this significantly.
Vegetables showed a drop of 2.6 % in volume and a growth of 1.7 % in turnover, the average prices were above the previous season for most of the products. Anecoop continues to work on crop programming together with its partners, in order to develop this category.
The IV and V Range products did not experience a good year due to the closure of the HoReCa channel and the replacement of some references by local productions, forcing those to accommodate to the new reality.
The Bio segment has also been influenced by this preference for the national product, whose progression slowed in previous years. The cooperative continues to bet on organic, as well as Zero Waste, to respond to the growing demand for fruits and vegetables grown in a more sustainable way.
