The Cameroon provides for an increase in its pineapple production and potatoes
FJ
The country has launched two programs to improve the production and processing of pineapple and potatoes.
MINEPAT (Ministry of Economy and Planning) opened 2 new "agropoles" in Douala (Littoral Region) and Mbouda (Western region). These new sites are intended to improve the production and processing of potatoes and pineapples.
The Mbouda site will help triple production: to move from a current production of 14,840 tonnes of potatoes per year to 46 800 tonnes in the year 2016. The other site will allow, in addition to an increased pineapple production, processing into juice 30 000 tonnes of pineapple in the next three years.
