Unseasonal rain damages over 1,300 hectares of crops in Jalgaon, India

Unseasonal rain, hail, and storms over the weekend have damaged crops across more than 1,300 hectares in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, India, according to agricultural officials. A preliminary survey covered 596 hectares, with banana plantations making up 540 hectares of the damage. Other affected crops include corn, wheat, and jowari, though assessments are still underway.
The worst-hit areas were Raver, Muktainagar, and Bodwad, where hundreds of farmers reported losses. In Raver alone, 732 farmers across 19 villages lost crops on 510 hectares. In Muktainagar and Bodwad, 147 farmers reported losses on nearly 87 hectares combined.
In nearby Nashik district, rain and hail also impacted crops in Yeola, Sinnar, Niphad, and Chandwad. Early reports show 14 hectares affected, mainly onions. Full evaluations in those regions are pending.
