Kent mangoes continue to lead exports, with the United States, the European Union and Asia as the main markets.
Mango is one of Peru's main agricultural export products, standing out for its quality and demand in markets such as the United States and Europe. The 2024/2025 export season shows a significant recovery compared to the previous season, which was marked by the impact of the El Niño phenomenon, according to Peruvian media.
Between weeks 35 and 52, Peru exported 106 thousand tons of fresh mango, generating US$ 128 million, which represents a growth of 520% in volume and 166% in value compared to last year. However, projected volumes were reduced from 240 thousand to 190 thousand tons due to water shortages.
Kent mango continues to lead exports, with the United States, the European Union and Asia as the main markets. However, the season was brought forward due to atypical cold weather associated with La Niña, generating an oversupply in key markets and causing a 46% drop in prices.
In addition, the industry faces logistical challenges and high costs due to competition for resources with other agricultural products such as grapes and blueberries. Against this backdrop, experts highlight the need to diversify markets, invest in water infrastructure and optimize logistics to ensure the sector's profitability.
