Around 70% of the table grapes produced in Australia are exported. China remains the largest destination market but Vietnam, 4th market during the 2020-21 season, is increasing its demand for Australian table grapes with +98% in value.
According to AUSTRADE, between July 2021 and April 2022, table grape exports to Vietnam were valued at AUS 63 million (USD 43.3 million). This represents a 98% increase compared to the same period in 2020-21.
Vietnam's share of total Australian table grape exports increased to 15% during the period (6% in the previous period). Exports to Vietnam should continue to grow as production will increase with more vines maturing and the middle class in Vietnam continues to grow and demand more and more high quality fresh produce.
In the 2020-21 season, Vietnam was Australia's 4th largest export market for table grapes. Other Australian fruits are successful in Vietnam, which has also become the 2nd export market for cherries and a brand new market, opened this year, for peaches and nectarines.
