23% increase in global kiwifruit sales for Zespri

Zespri recorded a 23% increase in global kiwifruit sales totaling NZD $2.94 billion.
Zespri Group, the fruit distributor, announced that its annual profit had increased and global sales of kiwifruit rose by 23%. Zespri sold 167.2 million trays of kiwis, 20.6% more than the previous year.
Zespri, which markets kiwis for 2,500 New Zealand producers and 1,200 producers in Italy, Japan, Korea and France, reported a net profit of NZ $179.8 million for the 12-month period that ended March 31. Last year, net profit amounted to NZ $101.8 million.
Revenues climbed 26% to a record NZ $3.14 billion, with global net sales of kiwi fruit increasing by 23% to NZD $2.94 billion.
Zespri said the results reflected strong international demand. Zespri sold 167.2 million trays of kiwis, an increase of 20.6% over the 138.6 million trays sold for the previous year.
