Agricultural production in the EU grew by 2.4% in 2019

In 2019 agricultural production in the EU reached EUR 418 billion, i.e. + 2.4% compared to the previous year (Photo: touteleurope.eu).
According to data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, the total value of agricultural production is up by 2.4%
Eurostat reports that the economic accounts for agriculture show that the total value of agricultural production in the European Union (EU) stood at EUR 418 billion, up by 2.4% from 2018.
With EUR 77.0 billion (around 18% of the EU total) in 2019, France had the highest total agricultural production among the Member States, followed by Germany (EUR 58.2 billion, or 14%), Italy (EUR 57.8 billion, or 14%) and Spain (EUR 51.7 billion, or 12%), the Netherlands (EUR 29.1 billion, or 7%), Poland (EUE 26.4 billion, or 6%) and Romania (EUR 19.0 billion, or 5%).
The largest increases were observed in Latvia (+ 21.1%) and Estonia (+ 16.1%). Conversely, the value of agricultural production fell the most in Slovenia (-3.3%) and Slovakia (-2.4%). Among the Member States with the highest agricultural production, the value of total agricultural production increased, by 10.6% in Germany, while it decreased slightly in France (-1.6%), Italy (- 1.2%) and in Spain (-0.9%).
The value of crop production in the EU increased by 1.8%, with volumes increasing by 2.2% and prices falling by 0.3%.
