Pakistan plans to boost exports to the Middle East.
The expression "the misfortune of some makes the happiness of others" can also adapt to the global trade of Fruits & Vegetables. The ban in some Middle Eastern countries on imports from India is expected to benefit Pakistan's exports.
Bahrain and Kuwait have just banned imports of Fruits & Vegetables from India because of a Nipah virus outbreak that affected nearly 2,000 people.
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has confirmed that Pakistan maintains its presence in the Middle East markets. Pakistan is already exporting to these markets and an increase in volumes shipped may meet demand. This incident could help Pakistan double its exports to the Gulf countries.
According to FPCCI, Pakistan has achieved exceptional harvests of potatoes, onions and peppers and will be able to easily meet new demands.
