A report referred to ABC (Almond Board of California) shows that the area of almond trees in California has diminished for the 1st year this year.
According to the californian media, a new report by Land IQ sent to ABC (Almond Board of California) shows that this year the total surface area is estimated at 1.64 million acres (663,684 hectares) against 1.66 million acres (671,778 hectares) at the same date in 2021.
The productive area, either producing fields or plants in 2019 or ahead, has slightly progressed to reach 1.34 million acres (542,278 hectares) against 1.31 million acres (530,138 hectares) in 2021. The non productive area, newly planted almond trees (2020) without almonds reached 294,000 acres (118,977 hectares) against 353,000 acres (142,854 hectares) in 2021.
The report also indicates that the suppressed area of newly planted almond tree was around 60,400 acres (24,443 hectares) on August 31 of this year, compared to 56,900 acres (23,026 hectares) in 2021.
In 2021 the Californian harvest of almonds was around 2.8 million pounds (1.3 million kg).
