Ecuador is preparing to start exporting pitahaya to China. This was indicated by the Ecuadorian media last week, after the producers managed to comply with the audit established by the Asian country.
Approximately 400 hectares will enter the first list for export to the new destination and the Palora Canton, the Province of Morona Santiago, will represent 97% of this list.
To start exporting the fruit, now only the approval of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) remains.
Most of these supplies will be the yellow pitahaya, while the red variety will be shipped in smaller volumes as it is already well supplied by other countries, such as Vietnam.
The value per kilogram of said fruit in the Chinese market will be between $3 and $5.
