Increased production and increased exports for Chinese peaches and nectarines this year.
According to the recent USDA GAIN REPORT, Chinese production of peaches and nectarines is forecast for the 2017/18 season, up by almost 2% from 2016/17.
Chinese production of peaches and nectarines for the 2017/18 season is forecast at 14.3 million tonnes, almost 2% more than the 14 million tonnes of the 2016/17 season. This increase can be explained by the slightly higher area (estimated at 840,000 tonnes) in the previous year and the good climatic conditions in the producing provinces. The numerous cultivated varieties provide the market between the end of May and the beginning of October.
Imports of peaches / nectarines are low and come mainly from Australia and Spain. Exports of peaches / nectarines are expected to reach 80 000 tons this year, up 9% from the previous year. Main destinations: Russia, countries of Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
