Expanded access reflects Peru’s push to keep more products moving abroad.
Peru obtained 19 new sanitary and phytosanitary accesses for agricultural products in the first four months of 2026, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI). The work was carried out through the National Agrarian Health Service, SENASA.
The new accesses include Peruvian bananas to Argentina, Tahiti and key limes to Chile, citrus fruits to Venezuela, chia seeds to Malaysia, blueberry plants to Brazil, and citrus plants to Paraguay.
MIDAGRI said the approvals will help expand commercial opportunities for Peruvian producers and exporters, while supporting regional economies.
The ministry said the progress is linked to Peru’s agricultural health status and coordination between SENASA, producers, industry groups and export companies. It also noted the importance of protecting the country from pests and diseases such as fruit fly and fusarium.
In 2025, Peru exported 540 agricultural products to 115 international markets, with total shipments exceeding 3 million tonnes, according to MIDAGRI.
SENASA is also continuing talks with markets including China, Japan, Vietnam, Chile, Cuba, Taiwan and New Zealand to open more opportunities for Peruvian agricultural exports.
