Ranking of suppliers from Spain: 1. Morocco, 2. France, 3. Peru.
Spanish imports of fresh fruit and vegetables originate first in Morocco, then in France and then in Peru, according to data from the Director-General for Customs treated by FEPEX.
In 2016 imports from Morocco totaled 413.3 million euros, an increase of 23% compared to 2015. The most imported vegetables are green beans and tomatoes, the most imported fruits are raspberries , blueberries and strawberries.
Imports from France totaled EUR 315 million (+ 24%), mainly potatoes, apples, green beans and lettuce. Those from Peru totaled € 163.4 million.
Morocco is therefore at the top of the ranking of suppliers in Spain. Over the past five years, imports from Morocco have increased by 221%, from € 128.7 million in 2012 to € 413.3 million in 2016.
