Subway cultivates lettuces in its stores

Subway's sandwiches are made with salads cultivated in the restaurant.
Subway Japan fast food chain opens a store which cultivates its own lettuce.
The new selling point Subway situated in Tokyo (in district business of Marunouchi), has a central processing unit of 6 squares meters where lettuces are cultivated.
Shelves of lettuces are arranged in the central shop window with water, fluorescent lamps and emitting diodes lamps. Culture is guaranteed without use of chemicals.
Lettuces can be harvested 49 days after planting. It will be possible to collect 20 heads of lettuce a week that is a quantity for 100 persons. This harvest will cover approximately 5 % of the lettuce used at the restaurant.
