Start of strawberries plantations for the 2014-15 campaign

The 2014-15 campaign was prepared with the start of strawberries plantation in the Huelva region.

In the Huelva region which represents 95 % of the Spanish production, strawberry plantations began. For some producers it started since late September but most of these operations are performed during the month of October and will be completed early next month.

The total area , according to the professional bodies will be between 6500 and 7000 hectares. Surfaces is almost equivalent to those of last season : 6980 hectares which enabled production of 278,900 tonnes.

The 1st production early varieties are expected by the end of December or early January .
