The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has decided to increase the import quota for Turkish tomatoes by 20%. Turkey will be allowed to export up to 300,000 tonnes of tomatoes to Russia.
Russia increased the quota from 50,000 tonnes in February 2020 to 200,000 tonnes, then increased it again in January 2021 to 250,000 tonnes. The quota has just been increased again by an additional 50,000 tonnes for a total volume of 300,000 tonnes.
This Russian decision was welcomed by Turkish producers and exporters. This increase of the quota is an important development underlined the Association of Exporters which specifies that Russia is one of the main markets of the sector.
