The orange production is expected to decrease by about 15%.
A shift in weather and growing conditions this year is expected to change the balance of Turkey’s fruit harvest. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, citrus production will drop compared with last season, while some melon crops are set to rise.
The ministry estimates that orange production will decrease by about 15% and lemon output may fall by nearly 35%. In contrast, mandarin production is forecast to grow by a little over 7%.
Outside the citrus sector, several key nut crops are also expected to see weaker harvests. Hazelnuts may fall by around 38%, walnuts by about 38%, and pistachios by more than 60% compared to last year’s yield.
Among other fruit crops, banana production is projected to decline slightly (about 1.6%). Meanwhile, melon crops are performing better: watermelon production is expected to grow by over 8%, and melons by roughly 17%.
