Freshuelva forecasts for strawberry production

Freshuelva announces 6400 hectares of plantations and an expected harvest of 245,000 tons of strawberries.
Freshhuelva, the Association of Producers and Exporters of strawberries from Huelva, has given its estimates for the strawberry season 2010-2011.
The total area includes 8,169 hectares of plantations for strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
The expected production of strawberries is 245,000 tons, a figure similar to previous seasons. The plantation area is approximately 6,400 hectares, total similar to last season.
The acreage of raspberries has increased 5% to reach 955 hectares. The planting of mulberry trees fell 15%. The cranberry has increased by 15.6% with 763 hectares. Freshuelva will continue to increase the consumption of berries in the domestic market.
