The approval follows months of technical discussions between the two countries.
The Philippines has officially approved the entry of fresh Hass avocados from Peru, following a new bilateral work plan signed between the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) and Peru’s National Agrarian Health Service, Philippine media reported.
The agreement sets clear phytosanitary and safety requirements to ensure the avocados meet Philippine plant health standards. It also marks the end of several months of technical reviews between both countries.
According to the BPI, the move will diversify the country’s fruit supply and give Filipino consumers more choices, while strengthening agricultural cooperation and aligning with international trade rules.
Officials said the partnership may also support future collaboration in plant protection, food safety, and agricultural knowledge sharing.
