The region of Huelva announces 6.300 hectares of strawberries’ plantation , which is a similar surface as the previous campaign.
The province of Huelva began strawberries’ plantation which will be to harvest from February.
The surfaces cover 6.300 hectares, which is a similar figure compared to last year. This year, farmers are going to produce the variety "Fortuna" which has been successfully tested the last season.
The Association of Producers and Exporters of strawberries (FRESHUELVA) indicates that the 2009-10 campaign had a total production of 225.800 tons, that is 10% less than the previous season with a turnover of 304 800 000 € (increase of 3 % compared to the previous season), even if the average price of fruits increased by 5,9 %.
